Location

There are good rail and bus links to Dalmally.

The village of Dalmally is a mile from the cottage and offers shops, post office, medical centre and a pub/restaurant. Fishing by permit on the River Orchy. There is a 9 hole golf course just a short drive from the cottage where visitors are welcome.

The village of Lochawe is about 5 minutes drive away and offers shop/post office, pub, hotel, fishing and views of Kilchurn Castle. Also available is permit fishing on Loch Awe, Cruachan Dam and the Hollow Mountain visitor centre.

There are many forest tracks within walking distance of the cottage & chalet.

Hillwalking is a very popular activity in the area with Beinn Cruachan (3695 feet) and Beinn Laoigh (Ben Lui 3708 feet) all withih a few miles of the Lochawe/Dalmally area. There are also many low level walks.

Inveraray is 20 minutes drive away and attractions include Inveraray Jail, Inveraray Castle (home of the Duke of Argyll), Ardkinglas Woodland Garden (which boasts the tallest tree in Britain) and Argyll Wildlife Park.

Fort William is an hour's drive away through the stunning scenery of Glencoe. Fort William's many attractions include Beinn Nevis (4406 feet) and its mountain gondola. Take a steam train to Mallaig through glorious scenery (booking essential).,

The village of Taynuilt is about 15 minutes drive away and offers shops, boat trips on Loch Etive, fishing by on the River Awe (permit), golf, hotel and cafe (Robin's Nest, the best scones in Scotland).

The sea side town of Oban is half an hour's drive away and offers shops, supermarkets, leisure centre, 18 hole golf course, beach and access to ferry crossings to Mull, lona etc for day trips.

The Scottish Sea life sanctuary is about a half hour drive away and well worth a visit, as is Tralee beach in Benderloch.
